Simplicity…

Good morning!..As simplicity is the highest form of sophistication I was eager to post three of my most recent images as published in my FB artist page. It may or may not be a agreed upon by everyone but it is every artist’s obligation to search and capture the basic lines, the simple form once in a while, at least. A focus on minimalism enriches the heart they say. More to come in the near future, in the meantime please enjoy!

March…

Good morning!…Still feeling the chill but Paris is slowly warming up with the feel and colors of Spring. If you are planning a trip over this is probably the time to do it, early blossoms, young growth, not that many tourists yet and still, museums and cafes to enjoy to the fullest.

My latest captures here take me once more to LA first, and my study of flow in contemporary architecture. You’ve seen my Getty waves and I’ve attempted to take it to the next level and dig deeper into its sensual form. Following that is a short stint I did last Sunday at La Défense, my preferred business district here in Paris where I go to find new angles amid new construction taking place every week it seems. My rendition is that of the back of a well known building (seen further down my stream) mirroring its facade. The tones I gave the photograph fit well with it’s ancient feel – someone said that of a medieval sword – yet an absolute contemporary structure otherwise. On that subject, many contemporary architects get their inspiration from medieval, Roman and Greek structures when they design.

BTW (and without further ado) I have inaugurated a new blog dealing with Paris Fashion through my street photography: I kindly invite you to visit http://julianescardofashion.wordpress.com  for its maiden page, and hit subscribe!

Ensemble…

Good morning!!….I am celebrating the arrival of Springlike weather (finally!) here in Europe and decided to produce two cross-processed architectural images. I wanted to stress the strong qualities of the flow or angle but also focus on the graphic impact. I hope I’ve achieved that – it’s the first time I designed a couple of lightroom presets and I’m happy with the results….I trust you are too.

Diptych…

Good morning!!………Further exploring as seen in the photographs preceding this duo. I often will go back to a place I like and have another ‘dialogue’ with my subject. And I don’t know why but I have a feeling this won’t be the last time – here’s to the great I. M. Pei. Please enjoy this very brief architectural post and thank you in advance for stopping by (both Musée du Louvre entrance hall btw).

Coalescence…

Good morning!..Motivated by my previous post I wanted to blend, not textures today, but just images this time – I set to create a sense of flow, a marriage of images of the same building to stir/wake-up the imagination. Often we see juxtaposed sections of buildings as we walk about and I say – what would happen if they were transparent? if you could see through them and they would form a different structure all together, a sort of abstract. These two are of the Disney Concert Hall in LA, one of Gehry‘s finest works. There are several examples of this building in my previous blogs which you are welcome to see. I hope you enjoy these two for now at least.

Simple Vistas…

Good morning!…..today I am attaching two photographs taken March 2012 while visiting my main ‘hang-out” in Los Angeles – Gehry’s Concert Hall. Again the emphasis is on the lines and their flow and they intend to present the strength of the  ‘metal’ in two different ways….at night (with the sky totally blackened / monochrome) and during the day, softer, calmer. Again it pays to return to a certain site over and over to push the boundaries of imagination and see what the day tells you; how the light plays its game on that day. I often do that, return to the same place many times to see what I forgot, retrace my steps, talk to the building sort of thing. Hope you enjoy them……
